Clayton, Georgia

The Charm -The History- The People

So many cool Spots You’ve Gotta Check Out!

Clayton was founded in 1823. This small town has been around a long time. It has a history that begins with the Cherokee Indians and ends with modern Blueridge Mountain tourism.

Let’s be real—most touristy downtowns are just a sea of overpriced souvenir shops selling the same junk. But Clayton? Nah, this place is different.

Swing through town and you will stumble into unexpected little gems. You’ll find art, clothing and even old fashioned toy store called “Blue Ridge Toys”. Their slogan is “Where playing is a way of life”

Clayton Georgia Main Street Georgia
The cutest little chocolate shop you’ll ever find is “Main Street Chocolates” located in Clayton,Ga. They Offer handmade Ice Cream, Chocolates, Carmels And More!
The people of Clayton are among the most friendly you’ll find anywhere in the south! Just walk down the city streets and enjoy the smiles and waves from warm locals and people enjoying a quite laid back visit to the mountains.
Clayton Georgia Brewery

Born in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Currahee Brewing Company has been in operation since early 2016.They offer a tap room. They have counter service with a BBQ restaurant as well.

And hey, if you’re dragging your boyfriend/husband along, don’t worry—there are legit stores here that’ll actually keep him entertained (maybe *too* entertained… fair warning, his wallet might take a bigger hit than yours).

Here’s how we’ll roll: we’ll start with the heart of downtown, hit the outer edges, then dive into the shops. These are my personal favorites for spending time in Clayton.

Oh, and after you’re done shopping (and eating—because the restaurants here are Chef’s kiss, especially The Hush Cuban Cafe.

Stick around for weekend live music can be found all around, and almost always at the Universal Joint.

If your looking to burn off calories consider staying at “The Cascades Inn-Waterfall Retreat”. Located about 5 miles south of Clayton on 441. Book a room and explore the beautiful grounds.Hike through all the waterfall trails at the Inn. It is truly a special place!
